Can There Be Too Much Social Networking?

woman_at_computer_4sg6If you are an Internet or iPhone user, then you have the opportunity to constantly get online and socially network yourself. The iPhone is even more convenient because you have direct access to such applications as Facebook and Twitter. This is a great way to connect with friends that you may have lost touch with over time, and it is pretty addicting to so many people, especially when you consider the convenience of Facebook on your iPhone.

However, what people do need to keep in mind is that it is increasingly hard to distinguish between close friends and acquaintances with all of these social media networks available. This means that, in essence, you are spending way too much time on people that you may not care about. If you have electronic relationships with people, it is very easy for these online friends to misrepresent themselves and only show their best attributes since you have a limited relationship. There are also many horrible stories of teens being cyber bullied by their peers online. Though these are extreme cases, it is important to keep in mind who your real friends are and take the time to still see them face-to-face, even if you are addicted to Facebook!
