I have always thought of hiking as a fun and leisurely activity, so it should have been no big deal at all when my boyfriend and I agreed to go on a three hour hike with his parents. His parents are in their 50s, so I was only hoping that I would be able to break a little bit of a sweat to get started. Boy, was I wrong! Apparently, his parents are professional hikers who don’t take no crap from anybody. The three-hour hike covered almost 10 miles, and I have to tell you that the only way that I made it through was because I had my iPod to distract me.
I do love nature, and I also love being physical, but I didn’t think that I would be hiking to that degree! My iPod did end up dying toward the end, and at that point, all I was thinking about was a tall, cool glass of water because I was close to suffering from a minor heatstroke. It felt rewarding after the hike was over, but I’m not sure that I will be able to do that again for at least another month. This time, I will definitely charge my iPod better so that it can see me through to the end.
