As if there weren’t numerous reasons not to commit crimes, there is one more found in the story that I saw when I was checking out headlines on my iPhone before work today. Apparently, a robber with a knife was trying to break into an elderly man’s home who was in his 70s, and he had a little surprised because the elderly man was an ex-boxer who ended up beating the hell out of him and having him arrested. I’m sure that as the criminal started his day, he was just hoping to do a good robbery and get home and get some rest, but instead he ended up being beaten up almost unrecognizably by an elderly man.
This is totally fantastic, and it makes me want to root for this 70-year-old man who used his boxing skills in self-defense. I can’t say that I would have the same resolve if someone broke into my home, but this should teach criminals a lesson, especially in judging homes of the elderly that they are hoping to rob. The thief was sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison, so I’m sure he’ll have time to think about what happened to him at the hands of an old man.
